Press Releases - Santa Cruz Film Festival March 27, 2005 For Immediate Release The Santa Cruz Film Festival/Kuhn Family to March 27, 2005 Santa Cruz CA. The IV Annual Santa Cruz Film Festival May 5-13, 2005 is dedicating this year's film festival to Evan Kuhn. Evan Kuhn died on February 5, 2005, from injuries he received in an automobile accident in Monterey County. He was 21 years old. As a student at Aptos High, his film creation on skateboarding was accepted and shown at the first Santa Cruz Film Festival in the <18yr. Produced category, as well as, the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. To honor him the Kuhn family has set up a fund which in turn will honor monetarily the <18yr. Produced winner of this year's festival. Evan was born in Santa Rosa and had resided in the Santa Cruz area for 14 years. He was a graduate of Aptos High School and attended UCSC and later Cabrillo College. He will be remembered for his passion for both art and skateboarding. He was talented at photography and film making. Evan loved music and writing. He played guitar and was a natural drummer. At the time of his death, he was involved with a band and also did volunteer editing work for community television.
